The cold temperatures are complicated by the freezing rain and snow, it is imperative that people get into a shelter tonight. Wayside Christian Mission continues to operate under the rules of "Operation White Flag" allowing the Mission to get people inside out of the life-threatening weather and into a place of warmth. This is not ideal lodging but better than being in the cold. Tonight the beds in the shelter are near capacity, nearly 100 just in the Rescue Station (low barrier shelter) alone. An additional 35 folks are staying on mats or bedding on the floor. During Operation White Flag the city relaxes capacity rules and the Mission relaxes operational rules so that almost everyone seeking shelter will have a space.
