Mayor Greg Fischer visited the Mission about 6:15 tonight (2/3) to see how things were going on one of the most life-threatening nights of the new year. The Mayor took a tour of the Rescue Station (low barrier shelter), the family and women's floor, and the Operation White Flag sleeping areas. He talked with a number of our residents and guests asking how they were doing and showing his support for them during this difficult night.

Before leaving he told our staff that they were doing a great job and to keep up the good work; adding we are proud to have you here.

Comment - It is nice to see a public servant who will take the time to check on some of the most disenfranchised people in the city. Keep up the good work!

It’s really encouraging to see Mayor Fischer taking the time to personally visit and support those in need, especially on such a challenging night. Acts like this remind me of discussions I’ve seen over at Wheelie Life about the importance of community care and leadership that truly engages with people. Hope this inspires more leaders to step up!

It's really heartwarming to see leaders like Mayor Greg Fischer stepping up during tough times. Actions like these remind me of discussions I’ve had on Cobb Can Move about supporting vulnerable communities. Let’s hope gestures like this inspire more people to care and act! It's good to see leaders like Mayor Fischer taking the time to connect with those in need on such critical nights. By touring the Rescue Station, family and women’s floors, and the Operation White Flag sleeping areas, the mayor demonstrated Retro Bowl that he was not only aware of the challenges but willing to witness them firsthand.

This is a positive sign of That's Not My Neighbor public responsibility, but such visits must be followed by sustainable policies and resources, not just symbolic gestures.
