Emergency Services

For people experiencing homelessness and poverty, basic needs like food, shelter, clothing, clean restrooms, showers, and laundry services can be difficult to access. Stability is key to finding a better way to end the cycle of homelessness, addiction, mental illness, and brokenness.

Wayside Christian Mission continues to provide emergency service to meet the immediate needs of people seeking help.

Rescue Station - Low Barrier Shelter

The Rescue Station is located in the Gus Goldsmith Gymnasium, on our primary campus at Jefferson and Jackson Streets. The program offers basic emergency services, including food services onsite, lodging, clothing, showers and restrooms, case management assistance, support services, cable TV, limited WIFI, laundry services, limited storage for up to 100 men, women, and families.  Daily check-in is from 3:00-4:30 and reservations are available.

 

Emergency Shelter for Families

Located on the 2nd floor north of our Jefferson Street campus, families are given a 24-hour lodging program with case management and support services, including public school access for children.  The program offers basic emergency services, including food services onsite, semi private rooms, clothing, private showers and restrooms, case management assistance, support services, cable TV, limited WIFI, laundry services, limited storage for up to 30 families. Initial admission is available 24 hours a day and reservations are available.

 

Emergency Shelter for Women

Located on the 2nd floor north of our Jefferson Street campus, this program offers 18 beds and is open 24 hours each day,  The program offers basic emergency services, including food services onsite, semi private rooms, clothing, private showers and restrooms, case management assistance, support services, cable TV, limited WIFI, laundry services, limited storage.  Daily check-in is from 3:00-4:30 and reservations are available.

 

Emergency Shelter for Men

Located on the 1st floor north side of our Jefferson Street campus, this 56-bed dorm is located just next to our emergency dining room. The program offers basic emergency services, including food services onsite, clothing, private showers and restrooms, case management assistance, support services, cable TV, limited WIFI, laundry services, limited storage.  Residents may remain inside 24 hours each day, check-in nightly is from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM, beds may be reserved on consecutive nights.

 

Emergency Shelter for Veterans

In partnership with the Veteran’s Administration, 26 beds available in semi private rooms for men, women and families. The program offers basic emergency services, including food services onsite, semi private rooms, clothing, private showers and restrooms, case management assistance, support services, cable TV, limited WIFI, laundry services, limited storage.
